ASUS ZenFone 4 Specifications and Renders Leaked: Snapdragon 630/660, Dual Rear Cameras

This year is all about that dual camera, a trend that many saw coming when the Apple iPhone adopted a dual rear camera setup on its iPhone 7 Plus. Even though the iPhone was nowhere near the first device to implement such a feature, Apple’s popularity in the consumer market meant that the trend would surely carry over to the Android sphere. And the ASUS ZenFone 4 is the latest upcoming device to seemingly follow along this trend.

According to WinFuture.de, the ASUS ZenFone 4 will be one among the few mid rangers that the Taiwanese OEM is looking to launch in different markets. The ZenFone 4 ZE554KL will reportedly come in a familiar design package with a seemingly metallic mid frame sandwiched between glass on the front and back of the device. The fingerprint sensor takes space on the front of the device, below the 5.5″ FHD AMOLED display. One of the highlights of the phone will of course be its dual rear camera setup comprised of a 12MP main sensor and a 8MP sensor with a 120-degree wide angle lens. The front camera is said to be a 8MP shooter.

As for the insides, the “standard” model of the phone will reportedly bear the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, and will be supplemented by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The report mentions that the ZenFone 4 is also being planned with a better SoC in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. Information on the RAM and storage of this variant is unknown, but ASUS could bump up the storage to create more variation and target more price points and use-cases. The ZenFone 4 will also come with a hybrid dual SIM slot to support microSD expansion. The battery is rumored to be around 3,300 mAh, which will be a good match with the SoC choice.

The rumored pricing of the ZenFone 4 in Europe is said to be €499.99 ($587). The phone is expected to be officially unveiled on 17th August 2017.

What are your thoughts on the ZenFone 4 and ASUS’s combination of specs on their mid ranger? Does the price of the phone justify its specifications and expected user experience? Let us know in the comments below!
